Earthquake in Napa Should Have No Effect Here!

I'm sure you've all seen the damage the earthquake and aftershocks caused in Napa Valley.  Thankfully no deaths have been reported, but there looks to be a lot of damage to buildings and wineries.  The worst pictures for me are the shots of the barrel rooms with the six-high stacks of barrels on their sides.  And winemakers in rubber boots wading through 6 inch deep wine!

I've been getting a lot of emails asking how the quakes will affect our winemaking season.  From what I can determine, it should have no effect on us.  Apparently, the grapes on the vines just swung back and forth.

According to the Washington Post, "The 2014 vintage will be fine because the harvest season has just begun, and outside, “the vineyards just shake like this,” said [Ariel] Ceja, 31, [of Ceja Vineyards in Napa] with a little “Surfin’ USA” move."
